Title: Senior Optical Engineer (R&D)

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Job Description:

Calmar Optcom Inc. is looking for an R&D optical engineer with proficient knowledge in fiber lasers and amplifiers. The job responsibilities are to lead the development high power ultrashort pulsed lasers and amplifiers. Tasks include design fiber lasers and amplifiers for various wavelengths, pulsewidth, and output powers and experimental demonstration of the designed concepts. Understanding and hands-on experiences in any combination of fiber optics, ultrashort pulsed lasers, or nonlinear optics are required.

Requirements:

An MS or a higher degree in electrical engineering or physics. Five years of experience in lasers and nonlinear optics in R&D environments. The engineer must be strongly self-motivated.

Title: Opto-Mechanical Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Job Description:

Calmar Optcom Inc. is looking for a talented opto-mechanical engineer for R&D projects, with a good potential to grow with company. The successful candidate designs and analyzes opto-mechanical systems for R&D development in high power lasers, featuring system assemblies, equipments, and motion control. He/she specifies, procures, and qualifies new opto-mechanical system, as well as performing structural (FEA) and thermal tolerance analysis of designed system. Pin-pointing the structural defects based on a long-term testing and creatively improving the designs are important. The candidate should learn new knowledge in optics and electronics as a complete subsystem designer and builder.

Requirements:

- MSc in Mechanical Engineering (or BS with 2+ year experience)
- Strong hands-on experiences in 3D modeling tools (AutoCad, ProE, SolidWorks, etc)
- Solid education in structural and thermal mechanical analysis
- knowledge on optical and mechanical material properties is a big plus
- Strong willingness to self-learn new opto-mechanical technologies under development
- Knowledge on Gaussian beam propagation and basic electronics is a big plus

Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Job Description:

Calmar Optcom is looking for an experienced Reliability and Quality Engineer to plan, coordinate, direct, and execute qualification activities for its ultrafast fiber laser systems and modules. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience executing qualification tests in optical fiber systems and modules and is effective in driving root cause analysis and corrective actions. Perform daily testing activities, reporting, and communications. Lead ongoing qualification and reliability activities with a focus on monitoring, metrics, and manufacturability. Collaborate with various functions to drive corrective actions on complex quality issues. Drive and monitor quality improvements in product lines and coordinate with engineering development. Develop and incorporate appropriate disciplines and processes to design for qualification, maintain and improve reliability benchmarks. The position requires outlining strategies for qualifying the fiber laser products per Telcordia and ISO9001 standards.

Requirements:

- At least a BS degree in engineering (prefer in physics, electro-optics).
- Three years experience in a quality assurance role.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Great attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Ability to analyze data and provide logical solutions to quality challenges.
- Experience with product inspection, customer source inspection, quality system auditing experience.
- Exposure to quality requirements contained in customer purchase orders and specifications.
- Incoming, in-process and final inspection, statistical process control, non-conforming material controls, failure mode analysis techniques.
- working knowledge of ISO 9001 and the certification process.
- Experience in the optical fiber component and module manufacturing industry required.

Title: Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Job Description:

You are a key member of our integrated management team, responsible for the development, proofing and implementing all aspects of the manufacturing process including methods, equipment, BOMs, work instructions, and standard manufacturing procedures for fiber lasers and fiber amplifiers.  Responsible for improvements in manufacturing efficiency and yields, and ensuring products are manufactured on-time and with the highest standards of quality.  Close collaboration with product development team to enable timely product transition from lab to production ramp.  Responsible for leading manufacturing team to accomplish company goals.

Requirements:

- Minimum 8 years experience in Optical and laser industry including minimum 3 years management experience.
- familiar with optics or laser manufacturing environment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Have demonstrated experience working with R&D team and managing transfer prototype to manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience with fiber laser, and experience with LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma are pluses.

Title: Director of Engineering

Location: Sunnyvale, CA

Job Description:

Leads the engineering team to product a family of fiber laser sources and sub-systems. Responsible for transferring from research to development, and from development to early-stage manufacturing.  Solid understanding of laser physics and high-speed electronics.  New product introduction experience and early-stage manufacturing experience are a big plus.

Requirements:

- Ph.D or MS in electrical engineering, Physics, Optics or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the field of lasers and fiber optics.
- Strong leadership and planning skills.Strong communication skills with both in-house engineers and customers.
